Eating machine

Zina: That Mensch calls me her little "Ess-Machine". I don't understand. Isn't everybody hungry all the time? Here I am fishing the last bit out of the bowl with my paw.

Zetti: I am skinny, but I have very shiny fur and am healthy that Mensch tells me. I mean, who wants to be a thick cat on a diet?

4 eyes

Zina: When I am hungry I go into the kitchen and I miaow. Loudly.

Zetti: Sometimes my sister miaows in the kitchen. Then I join her.

Zina & Zetti: We have learned that the Mensch we live with can resist one of us, but not both. Very effective, when we're hungry.

Funny games

Zetti: When I think it's time for that lazy bitch I live with to get up, I walk on her. If that doesn't help, I miaow. Sometimes that doesn't help either, then I curl up next to her, waiting. And while I do, I have a snooze. And in fact, she could use a bit of a beauty sleep!

Zina: Since that Mensch moved the furniture around I found a new game. She sits on the sofa, I jump up next to her, miaowing in her ear. It is very funny to watch her jump. Nobody can walk like I, not even the insects can hear me!

Snoozing on purple

Zina: When you insist on taking photos, all I can say is: tongue!

Zetti: Go away, I'm snoozing!

Stretching

Zetti: I like to stretch. That Mensch says that I become half a meter long while doing so. Obviously not counting the tail. I am very proud of my tail. It has been measured (didn't like that though!), and that Mensch says it's 31 cm. I like to display it while walking, tail straight up. There is nothing like showing off a bit.

Zina: I like to stretch. That Mensch tells me I am little, but I think she's wrong. I think I'm a lion. I win every race to the food bowl. And anybody trying to take me on, bring it I say!

Food time

Zina: I like food. Almost more than I like sleeping. That Mensch gives me too little food. And I am constantly starving, I keep track of whenever she goes into the kitchen. Perhaps she'll open that drawer that contains those delicious fish sticks? Or the wet food? She is a bit unpredictable, so I keep my ears open. Just in case.

And I don't understand why she keeps on telling me that I have to eat out of the bowl, and not spread it on the floor around. Doesn't she understand what it is to be hungry? Guess not, by looking at her...

Zetti: I like sleeping. Almost more than I like food. A good snooze is gold worth. Sometimes that Mensch comes to pet me, and that's ok. Now. Didn't so much enjoy it in the beginning, but she has really learned how to do it properly. A good stroke on my belly, snooooze!

But when I do eat, she's telling me that I do it very elegantly, and that makes me proud!

Settling in

Zetti: It was very scary in the beginning, but so many things to discover. You know, this Mensch had lots of little things everywhere, and I soon found out how fun it was to just walk by and give it a whirl with my tail. Especially at night, when the Mensch was sleeping. In the daytime I was hiding most of the time, found all these new things really frightening.

Zina: So many new things to sniff. I'd like to think of myself as an explorer, being interested in new places. And this Mensch seems ok, even though she keeps on sweeping me up in her arms all the time. I show her how much I don't like that, by putting my claws into her arm. She needs to learn who is the boss.

Zina & Zetti

Zina: 9 months ago my sister and I moved to Zürich to live with this Mensch. We were abruptly taken away from the life we knew on the countryside, to the buzzing city of Zürich. I was terrified! And sick from going in a car. It was horrible. It felt like an eternity before we arrived.

Zetti: 9 months ago my sister and I moved to Zürich to live with this Mensch. Nobody told us anything, and we ended up in a place totally foreign to us. I was terrified! And even though I'm pretty shy, I was the first one out of the transportation box to explore this new place.
